To launch the Bighand Hub, double click the icon on your desktop.

You may be prompted to enter a username and password or you may be logged in automatically.

Creating a dictation

Click the Voice icon to start a new dictation.  The Bighand Voice window is displayed:

The main panel enables you to control the recording, navigate through the dictation and insert more audio (if required).

The expandable Details tab allows you to enter key information about the dictation.  You can choose a work type and enter a client and matter information which automatically titles the dictation and helps track work in Bighand.

  • Press record on your device or click on the Record button in the Bighand Voice window.  Your device should light up to indicate it is recording.
  • Dictate into the microphone .  If you notice the recording levels are going into the yellow or red boxes at the bottom of the window, you may need to adjust your recording level.  This can be done under Settings.
  • Once this is done click Send. The dictation will be sent to the 'Work in Progress' folder where it can be worked on by a transcriber.

Adding a comment

The expandable Comments tab is used to add important notes against the recording.  These comments are time stamped and appear as little triangular icons.

To add a comment:

Ensure the dictation is at the required point.  In the illustration below, the dictation is at three seconds.

Click the speech icon which is located on the right hand side of the interface.  This will display a comments box.

Click Add Reply type your description and click your cursor anywhere other than on the comment you are typing on.  The triangle, highlighted in the illustration below is an indicator for the added comment.
