Additional Types of Entities

Modified on Fri, 5 Jan, 2024 at 12:50 PM

When an entity is created you have to select a main/default entity type that relates to that entity.

An entity can have several types.

Adding another type :-

Instances do arise where you need to add an additional type to an entity.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Do not change the “Lead Type” click on “Additional types” button and select the other type you require.  This leaves the original as is (recommended) and adds the additional one for you.

For example looking at the matter contacts screen above, Taylors Estate Agents have a Lead Type of “Estate Agents” with an additional type of “Supplier”.   This gives you the option to write to Taylors as a Supplier or an Estate Agent.

Above is an example of a client having several different types.  If an existing Client has the Lead type of Client and matters are open for other Legal Advisors - you would open your new matter (client acting as Attorney), you need to add the additional type as Attorney.   Never change the Lead Type unless you are 100% sure it is correct.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

If you do overwrite the Lead type this affects the other matters that the client has and when trying to merging letters/documents they will show up an error to say that there is no contact with Client as the lead type.
